Both sides of our family--our ancestors-- are comprised of men and women of strength, faith and courage. They each have individual talents and abilities, are definitely human and have had a part in the formation of the Cordell and Patricia Nelson Fonnesbeck Family. We hope that each of you may see a piece of yourself in someone in the stories that are told and feel a connection with the family members that have gone before, and who we will be reunited with someday.

Reflections on Christian Fonnesbeck

     I found this poem while looking through another history of Christian Fonnesbeck, Hermans' father and Cordell's grandfather.  It is written by Herm.

REFLECTIONS ON CHRISTIAN FONNESBECK

Consider with me at this stage in time
Of why we are here and who we are.
A life of hardship or a life sublime,
Christian Fonnesbeck is the star!!
He's posed with eight handsome boys
As his role in mortal life was filled,
Also, six talented daughters brought him joy.
With what he begat, his heart was thrilled.
A goodly bunch, all sound of mind with no infirmities.
Humbly, he thanked his God for children such as these.

Now bear with me while I explain
Why he's the star in the Fonnesbeck family.
Fore-ordained or just a humble Dane,
His action linked us all with eternity.
Such action must begin with mortal man,
And bygone souls await with much anxiety
For just one to activate the Fonnesbeck Clan
So we all might join in celestial eternity.
The keys and place were now on Earth
All Fonnesbecks awaited a special birth.
